Christmas Tablescape

Yes, Peeps. I'm thinking about Christmas again. It seems that once Thanksgiving comes and goes, I'm in a rush to decorate and I always have SO many ideas, but I run out of time. Some years, I've decorated right up until Christmas Day, and I've been known to keep the trees up until almost Valentine's Day. I just can't seem to de-decorate. I LOVE Christmas!
So, here's something I did last year, and I'm thinking about repeating it (keep in mind that I hardly ever do the same thing from year to year).
I decided to do a silver, blue, and white tablescape. I was pretty tickled with it.

Not that I'm a tablescape expert, but I think the trick is to use a variety of textures and a color theme, but I also like lots of light and sparkle.

The tall glasses were champagne glasses that I purchased at my local thrift shop- 8 for $2. Woot, woot! They're used more for decoration than champagne, but I reserve the right to fill them up with bubbly whenever I want! There are also Waterford brandy snifters, which again, have hardly ever had brandy in them.

I have two gorgeous Waterford decanters that also needed to be used, so I put blue food coloring in them with some water, and instant color!

Jingle bells from a Christmas clearance sale, paper poinsettias that I cut out, a white table cloth bunched up in the center.

Little droplets.

German status.

Silver teapots and creamers.

Glass glittered stars.

And little white ball ornaments. Seriously, Folks, just use what you have!

And, here's another view of my garland. My neighbor cracked me up when she saw it. She said, "You put all of these on by hand?", as if we had a machine that did it. Boy, now THAT would be a cool thing to have!

Again, just using a lot of what we had. The white flowers were a clearance item from Pottery Barn, which were really just a bag of potpourri, the white "starburst" thingy is a dried allium from our garden that I sprayed white, and the pink flower is a dried peony.

And, this is one of my favorite ornaments, of which I have many. You can also see one of my beaded snowflakes in the lower left. There's a very cool story behind them, which I'll save for a later date.

Thanks again for taking the time to look! Fondly, Tami

Not too early to think about Christmas!

Well, Froggers, I'm already thinking Christmas. Yups. Every year, I get to the time where I want to decorate, and then discover that I don’t have enough pretty stuff for all of my different themes. I decided that I need to get an early start, so here are some samples of my ornaments that I've been designing.
The design below was made with perfect pearls (swirls), Ranger Kraft Resist, and ugly chipboard numbers (that were once pink, and now they have been dabbed with a pearl dabber, then covered in glass glitter from Meyer Imports. Gotta love that bling.

More Perfect Pearls, Prima flowers, beads, and a keyhole. I think I need to go back and add a key.

Here, I played with some colorwash.

Another simple one.

This is probably my favorite. I need to learn to take better pictures. You just can't appreciate the glittered snowflake and the glitter on the Ranger tape.

I hope you enjoyed the little tour.

Subway Art- Part 2

I finished my subway art. If you remember the previous post, I didn't have the swirlies on it. I just thought I should add them for some more visual interest. You see that the letters are red, because after I applied the green vinyl onto the red painted board, I painted over the whole thing, vinyl and all, with Old White chalk paint. I carefully pulled up the vinyl, to reveal the red letters. I really love that effect, and it makes it look hand painted. I waxed it with clear Briwax and buffed to a lovely subtle luster. A sawtooth hanger completed the ensemble, and it's ready to be donated to a charitable cause.

I've had some fun doing these other projects as well:

You can't quite tell in this pic, but the base coat is red but the top is Versailles chalk paint with a dry brush technique.

Can you tell I'm into swirlies lately? You may wonder which color the red paint is. I'll give you a hint. It's chalk paint, but I'll reveal my secret later.

This is a simple wood panel with some scrapbook paper decopaged on top. However, the JOY letters were cut with my Cricut, Sure Cuts a Lot, and cereal box material. Since the cereal box isn't super sturdy, I double each letter up, using Mod Podge as a glue. It's such an economical way to do things! And then, I covered them with silver glass glitter from Meyer-Imports. I LOVE their glass glitter! The pic doesn't do it justice. The letters really sparkle.

These letters were "official" chipboard, bought at the Cozy Crop House, which is also now a Ranger retailer. Woot, woot! Right down the street from me! It doesn't get better than that, Froggers!

A mini sign, done on a wood panel.

This Noel was also cut out of cereal box material. I'm gonna have to go eat more Wheat Chex!
Well, that's it for now. I hope you enjoyed seeing a few of my projects, and that this gave you some inspiration! After all, that's how I roll.
And, PLEASE leave some comments if you enjoyed this!
Fondly, Tami
